Before taking this class, I had never really created a blog from scratch nor written weekly posts about a specific topic. I always admired those with blogs and the creativity that came with it, however, I didn't realize the different levels of difficulty that would come with keeping up a blog. As I created this blog and began to blog weekly, I was anxious to see which direction I would go with my posts, whether I would gain an audience, and what I would actually learn from my topic that I didn't already know. I knew that it would be hard to obtain an audience within a few short weeks, especially since I did not promote it on any other form of social media. On the other hand, by doing research on my topic and other blogs, I was able to learn a lot about blogging and was able to see how far people can really take their blogs and how successful they can be. I also learned a lot about my topic as a whole. When I first started my blog, having a healthy lifestyle was important to me, however, there was lot I was able to learn from writing various blog posts about different aspects of leading a healthy lifestyle. I also learned a lot about how advertisements are influential in various industries and can really impact the success of an industry as well. Overall, the process of creating a blog and doing various types of research on advertisements all taught me about blogging, my topic and advertisements.

As we've seen through research of healthy lifestyles, there are numerous approaches to the expression of how people live a healthy lifestyle. The way health is expressed is through media, such as social media, blogs, websites, etc., as well as advertisements from various sports and active companies. All of these types of expressions main goal tends to be to encourage those seeking a healthy lifestyle and giving them various tips, examples and opportunities to do so. In the future, I see the advertising and marketing in my niche to continue on this path. Within the past couple of years, creating new types of recipes and participating in unique, creative types of exercises have grown immensely in popularity. Some example of this are paddle boarding, hiking, barre classes, crossfit, etc. Because of this, I could see companies shifting along with this trend and advertising more unique activities, clothing items, food items, etc. While maintaining their brand plus adding various elements to appeal to the 'trend followers' in advertising and marketing, they can appeal to a wide variety of consumers. Another future change I see for the health industry is a heavier shift to the use of social media for advertising. More than half of adults are on social media, so this is a way to reach more customers who are starting to watch television less and less. On the other hand, many people are watching television online now, so gearing commercials to these viewing sites may also become more popular. If I were an account manager, I would advise an athletic company to strongly utilize social media for advertising campaigns, as well as changing the message of the content to some of these more unique trends customers may be interested in.
The health and fitness industry is constantly shifting, and with these shifts comes a shift in advertising. As technology has shifted in the past decade and social media has become more popular, the use of social media for advertising has grown exponentially. Since 3/4 of adults use social networking sites, this is becoming a prime way for companies to reach their potential consumers. An example of this is Kayla Itsines, who I've talked about before. She grew her following from several hundred to over 5 million through her social media posts. Itsines isn't the only one using social media as a basis to advertise for their company. Instagram is a major site playing a role in the use of social media for advertising as its main feature is visual image, the key element in an advertisement. Other social media sites are utilized as well for advertising in the health and fitness industry, and television ads are still prominent. Large companies like Nike, Under Armour, Adidas, etc., use television advertisements as the video clips show the products/services, while incorporating things like music, various settings, famous people to entice potential and returning consumer. Television advertisements are still influential in the health industry as the action video shots visually exemplify what the company is about. Overall, the shift to social media use for the health and fitness industry is largely successful, however, there is still popularity in using television marketing as well. Since this industry address potential customers from a wide variety of age, sex, ethnicity, etc., the use of social media and television marketing reaches this large spectrum of people.
