Along with learning a lot about blogging in general, I also learned a tremendous amount about my topic, healthy lifestyles, and various ways. Prior to writing this blog about living a healthy lfiestyle, the main chunk of knowledge I had was from what I have done in my life to be healthy, however, I had done very little research to find this information, but rather was more of trial-and-error. What I learned through research was related to how to work out and eat healthy. One of my favorite blog posts that I found very intresting was the 10 mistakes that are commonly made by those who are trying to become healthy by eating well and exercising. This post was relateable to me because I had often thought some of these things were beneficial to being healthy, which a lot of other people believe as well. Another blog I enjoyed researching was my general research post, which had many general facts about health. One being that it is 80% what you put into your body and 20% physical activity, thus nutrition is an extremely important part, if not the most important part, of leading a healthy lifestyle. In this research, I also found that a person needs about 30 minutes of cardio at least three times weekly to stay healthy. While these facts are not only pertinent to myself, they were also pertinent to my audience, which was college-age students.
Now that I know more about living a healthy lifestyle, I would like to do more research on how to improve health throughout college campuses since it is a common problem for college-age students. It's important to improve healthy lifestyles in college as it improves productivity and decreases stress/anxiety, as well as overall has been proven to improve academic performance. http://www.bestcollegereviews.org/health-and-nutrition-for-college-students/ https://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2013/01/14/5-mistakes-that-newbies-make-when-trying-to-get-healthy/ http://topyaps.com/top-10-mistakes-people-make-when-trying-to-get-in-shape

Before taking this class, I had never really created a blog from scratch nor written weekly posts about a specific topic. I always admired those with blogs and the creativity that came with it, however, I didn't realize the different levels of difficulty that would come with keeping up a blog. As I created this blog and began to blog weekly, I was anxious to see which direction I would go with my posts, whether I would gain an audience, and what I would actually learn from my topic that I didn't already know. I knew that it would be hard to obtain an audience within a few short weeks, especially since I did not promote it on any other form of social media. On the other hand, by doing research on my topic and other blogs, I was able to learn a lot about blogging and was able to see how far people can really take their blogs and how successful they can be. I also learned a lot about my topic as a whole. When I first started my blog, having a healthy lifestyle was important to me, however, there was lot I was able to learn from writing various blog posts about different aspects of leading a healthy lifestyle. I also learned a lot about how advertisements are influential in various industries and can really impact the success of an industry as well. Overall, the process of creating a blog and doing various types of research on advertisements all taught me about blogging, my topic and advertisements.
As we've seen through research of healthy lifestyles, there are numerous approaches to the expression of how people live a healthy lifestyle. The way health is expressed is through media, such as social media, blogs, websites, etc., as well as advertisements from various sports and active companies. All of these types of expressions main goal tends to be to encourage those seeking a healthy lifestyle and giving them various tips, examples and opportunities to do so. In the future, I see the advertising and marketing in my niche to continue on this path. Within the past couple of years, creating new types of recipes and participating in unique, creative types of exercises have grown immensely in popularity. Some example of this are paddle boarding, hiking, barre classes, crossfit, etc. Because of this, I could see companies shifting along with this trend and advertising more unique activities, clothing items, food items, etc. While maintaining their brand plus adding various elements to appeal to the 'trend followers' in advertising and marketing, they can appeal to a wide variety of consumers. Another future change I see for the health industry is a heavier shift to the use of social media for advertising. More than half of adults are on social media, so this is a way to reach more customers who are starting to watch television less and less. On the other hand, many people are watching television online now, so gearing commercials to these viewing sites may also become more popular. If I were an account manager, I would advise an athletic company to strongly utilize social media for advertising campaigns, as well as changing the message of the content to some of these more unique trends customers may be interested in.
The health and fitness industry is constantly shifting, and with these shifts comes a shift in advertising. As technology has shifted in the past decade and social media has become more popular, the use of social media for advertising has grown exponentially. Since 3/4 of adults use social networking sites, this is becoming a prime way for companies to reach their potential consumers. An example of this is Kayla Itsines, who I've talked about before. She grew her following from several hundred to over 5 million through her social media posts. Itsines isn't the only one using social media as a basis to advertise for their company. Instagram is a major site playing a role in the use of social media for advertising as its main feature is visual image, the key element in an advertisement. Other social media sites are utilized as well for advertising in the health and fitness industry, and television ads are still prominent. Large companies like Nike, Under Armour, Adidas, etc., use television advertisements as the video clips show the products/services, while incorporating things like music, various settings, famous people to entice potential and returning consumer. Television advertisements are still influential in the health industry as the action video shots visually exemplify what the company is about. Overall, the shift to social media use for the health and fitness industry is largely successful, however, there is still popularity in using television marketing as well. Since this industry address potential customers from a wide variety of age, sex, ethnicity, etc., the use of social media and television marketing reaches this large spectrum of people.

In recent years, various types of gyms have been created to combat this uncomfortable atmosphere people encounter. One gym is Planet Fitness, whose tag line is "Welcome the Planet Fitness. Home of the Judgement Free Zone." Instantly this shows that this gym welcomes people from all types of fitness backgrounds and wants them to feel comfortable at their gym. If you visit their website and go to the about page, you'll find more information on their goal to make their customers feel extremely comfortable. They emphasize numerous times about creating an environment that avoids the typical "lunky" feel of a gym and utilizing staff members to ensure a positive experience. Planet Fitness hired an advertising agency that seemed to fit well with what they wanted their branding to look like since they showed an interest in wanting to show differentiation from other companies. "What we want to do with Hill Holliday is build on our momentum and marketing success and reinforce that differentiated positioning to make sure people understand who we are and why we're different and open it up to a wider group of people," said the senior VP-marketing for Planet Fitness, Jessica Correa. As someone who personally struggles with "gymtimidation", a workout facility like Planet Fitness is appealing because it provides you with a guarantee of comfort and no judgement the second you walk in their doors.

Nike's inspires through Unlimited You campaign
Nike came out with an advertisement showing how athletes started their careers at a young age, not realizing how great of athletes they would grow up to be, and showing how they transformed into who they are today. This ad inspires those who may not realize the great potential they have and all that they could possibly accomplish. Nike captures its audience through the comical approach of the advertisement. Nike also has very well-known athletes in the advertisement to attract its customers. Nike typically sticks to intense, dramatic advertisements, but this one changes it up a little, which may attract a different audience and customer base than normal. The campaign previously released an advertisement of babies in their cribs labeled with famous athletes names. This ad was a precursor to this longer version that features babies in their cribs at the beginning of the commercial. Since people didn't know what the purpose of the babies in their crib was, it left them hanging waiting for an explanation, which came when the next advertisement came out. The precursor made the full ad more interesting and tied the campaign together. Overall, this campaign executed what seems to be its goal of intriguing its audience by creating an initial 'teaser' ad, followed by an ad that tied the two together, while using a light-hearted, less intense approach. A light-hearted campaign to show that people might not realize the potential that they have and inspiring them to keep working hard to achieve their goals is a powerful message to Nike's audience. https://www.creativereview.co.uk/the-athletes-take-over-the-ad-in-new-nike-commercial/ Kayla Itsines is an Australian native who had a passion for fitness and helping others, and turned it into a successful business that changed people's lives. Kayla used Facebook and Instagram to share her training and nutrition; she included client transformations, healthy eating options, and training tips, which inspired thousands to make a change in their lifestyles and become healthier. The workouts that Kayla uses are 28 minutes, with two seven-minute circuits repeated twice through, which allows people to get an intense workout in a condensed period of time. She says that most people see results in 12 weeks or less, which draws people in as they typically want to see results fast, and this plan helps people accomplish that. Kayla Itsines generally appeals to younger women who are trying to make a change in their life, yet are busy with school, work or a family. To combat the busyness, she has created 30-minute workouts that are promoted and easily accessible on social media, which helps target her audience and makes it easy for them to navigate. On her website, she has a blog within to show various success stories, quick and easy recipes, education and lifestyle posts, as well as exercises available to her audience. Itsines popular exercise guide is called, "Bikini Body Guide" and has taken shape to its nickname, "BBG," which has become a hashtag that her users/followers have started to use, which is an easy way for people to find out about her program. As Itsines has gained popularity, many people hear about her through the social media that she uses, as well as the interaction from those who have used and had a positive experience with her exercise and nutrition information. www.kaylaitsines.com/pages/about-us http://www.kaylaitsines.com/blogs/exercises/tabata-workout www.nytimes.com/2016/03/17/fashion/kayla-itsines-instagram-fitness-star.html?_r=0 Picture links: http://www.kaylaitsines.com/blogs/education/the-benefits-of-skipping-your-workout, Let's Talk Fitness | 'Leg Day' of My Free Week of Workouts by ..., www.nytimes.com/2016/03/17/fashion/kayla-itsines-instagram-fitness-star.html?_r=0, http://www.kaylaitsines.com/blogs/recipe/falafel-balls-with-yoghurt-dip-recipe

https://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2013/01/14/5-mistakes-that-newbies-make-when-trying-to-get-healthy/ http://www.health.com/health/gallery/0,,20841828,00.html http://topyaps.com/top-10-mistakes-people-make-when-trying-to-get-in-shape While there are many factors that make it hard for people to commit to leading a healthy lifestyle, one reoccurring issues is that it is difficult for people to make time to go to the gym because of their busy schedules. What many people don't realize is that it's much more effective to have some type of physical activity in a day rather than skipping a day or two of working out, and then having one really long workout out 1-2 times a week. Outlined below is a 30-minute lower body workout to do at home or in a gym:
This circuit is comprised of three types of workouts. The first is a short cardio set to get your heart rate up, which will warm your body up and get your blood flowing to increase muscle development and decrease chances of injury. The following five leg exercises are simple ways to make the muscles in your legs gain strength. The last four ab exercises gives your legs a rest between sets while gaining strength in the core of your body, which allows the rest of your body to maintain more strength. Repeating these workouts three times is important for muscle development. Overall, this quick 30-minute workout is beneficial as it only takes up a small portion of your day, you won't get bored at the gym, plus it's easily customizable to what you are capable of accomplishing. http://www.shape.com/fitness/workouts/how-build-perfect-circuit-workout http://www.shape.com/fitness/workouts/7-benefits-circuit-training-and-one-downside http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/workout/lose-weight/burn-fat/circuit-training-workout/
Everyone starts their health journeys at different stages in their life. Some people are young and athletic, so leading a healthy lifestyle comes easily, whereas some people don't necessarily work out or pay attention to what they eat until they are old and the effects of this start to impact their bodies. Nike's brand always promotes "Just Do It," however, in 2012, Nike ran an ad campaign called, "Find Your Greatness." The slogan alone can be relatable to people all of over the health and fitness spectrum, as it's saying to find whatever it is that makes YOU great. The image used in the advertisement is a kid who is overweight, running down a gravel road in a rural area. The image paired with the slogan is encouraging its consumers, from all different ends of the spectrum, to use whatever you have available to you to succeed in your own way. This image also shows implies the motto that "anyone can do it," not just people who are already lean and athletic. As college students, everyone comes in with different backgrounds in health and fitness. Some students were successful high school, varsity athletes, whereas others had never worked out before coming to college, nor did they ever watch what they eat. This ad resonates with college students as it shows to embrace whatever you have around you in order to "become great." This advertisement isn't placed in a gym or on a sports field, the character doesn't look like an extreme athlete, nor is he obviously wearing nike clothes. It is evident that Nike is trying to appeal to the masses, and this resonates with college students in that way. - Secrets Of 7 Of The Most Effective Ad Campaigns
